The short version
One Quiet Tree has no accounts and no cloud save. The game stores your progress in this browser only. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes technical request data to deliver the pages and keep the site secure.
The written pages may show Google AdSense ads, but only after you choose to allow advertising cookies. If you choose “essential only,” no ad unit is loaded or displayed. We do not run analytics, sell email addresses, or build user profiles.
Who is responsible
One Quiet Tree is an independent project operated by its developer (“we,” “us,” or “the site”). For questions or requests about this policy, contact gui.svro.dev@gmail.com with Privacy in the subject line.
This is a small, static website. There is no company customer database to search and no account dashboard to manage.
Game saves and local storage
To let you close the tab without losing your season, the game uses your browser’s localStorage. This information is created by your browser, stored on your device, and is not transmitted to us. It includes:
- the name you give your tree and your story progress;
- your free-growth save, rings, and weather state;
- sound and motion preferences;
- your cookie choice and the date it was made.
You can remove all of it by clearing site data for this domain in your browser settings. Doing so ends any saved season permanently. The cookie page lists the storage keys in more detail.
Hosting and technical logs
The site is served through Cloudflare Pages and Cloudflare’s content delivery network. Like most web hosts, Cloudflare processes technical information needed to answer a request and protect the service, such as your IP address, browser user agent, requested URL, time of request, and security signals.
Cloudflare may set security or load-balancing cookies (for example, __cf_bm or cf_clearance) when it needs to distinguish people from automated traffic. These are treated as essential for delivering and securing the site. We do not use them for advertising. Cloudflare’s own privacy documentation explains its role and retention periods.
Our legal basis in the EEA/UK is our legitimate interest in delivering a secure, functioning website, and, where required, your consent for non-essential cookies.
Advertising and Google AdSense
The game pages do not contain ads. Some written pages may carry clearly labelled Google AdSense placements. If you allow advertising, Google and its partners may use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to serve and measure ads.
Google may process information such as your IP address, approximate location, device and browser details, the page you are viewing, and interactions with an ad. With your consent, Google may use this information to show personalised advertising based on your visits to this and other websites. If you do not consent, ad units are not requested or displayed.
We do not receive your name, email address, or precise location from Google. We receive only aggregate reports about site traffic and ad performance if advertising is enabled.
Google’s use of advertising data is described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can also read the Google Privacy Policy. To opt out of personalised advertising, visit Google Ads Settings, or use the industry choices at aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu.
In the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, personalised advertising requires consent under local law. For visitors in those regions, our banner is the first gate: no ad slot is created until you choose “Allow ads.” Before advertising is enabled there, the site operator must also configure a Google-certified consent message (or another certified CMP) in the AdSense account. This first-party banner is an additional gate, not a replacement for that requirement. Advertising cookies are not used for visitors who choose essential only.
Your choices and legal bases
We ask before using non-essential advertising storage. You can change or withdraw that choice at any time using Cookie choices in the footer, or by clearing site data in your browser. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing that already happened.
Our legal bases under the GDPR, where applicable:
- Consent — for advertising cookies and personalised ads.
- Legitimate interests — for serving the site securely, preventing abuse, and maintaining essential infrastructure.
- Legal obligation — where we must retain information to comply with applicable law.
We honor browser-based opt-out signals, including the Global Privacy Control (GPC), by not requesting advertising placements. We do not track you across other websites ourselves.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data; the right to data portability; and the right to withdraw consent. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Because game saves stay on your device and the site has no accounts, we cannot retrieve a tree you saved locally. To remove that data, clear site data for this domain.
California and other U.S. state residents
Under the CCPA/CPRA and similar state laws, you may have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion or correction, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights.
We do not sell personal information for money. When advertising is enabled, the use of third-party advertising cookies may be considered “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising under California law. You can opt out through Cookie choices or by sending a request to the email above. We also honor GPC. To exercise other rights, email us with the subject Privacy Request; we may need to confirm that the request relates to you before acting.
Appeals and authorized agents
If we decline a request, you may reply to the same email to appeal. Authorized agents may submit requests with proof of authorization. We will not discriminate against you for using these rights.
Retention and international transfers
Local storage remains on your device until you delete it or your browser removes it. Consent records expire after 180 days and are then requested again. Cloudflare and Google retain technical and advertising data according to their own policies. If you email us, your message is retained only as long as needed to handle the conversation and any legal obligations.
Some service providers, including Google and Cloudflare, may process data in the United States or other countries. Where required, they rely on contractual safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. The independent project itself does not operate its own servers or transfer a database of user profiles.
Children
One Quiet Tree is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent personal information to us by email, contact us and we will delete it. Parents may also use the browser’s site-data controls to remove local game saves.
Changes to this note
If the site changes how it handles data — for example, if an analytics service or a new ad format is added — this page will be updated before the change takes effect. The effective date at the top shows when the current version was published.
